Cyclones, Apaches invite Marcus Luttrell to 5th Annual "Boot Campaign" Game

The Russellville Cyclones will take on the Pottsville Apaches during the 5th Annual "Boot Campaign" Baseball Game that will be held April 9 at the Russellville Cyclones baseball field at M.J. Hickey Park in Russellville.

Senior girls, Jan. 13:

Pottsville 47 Dardanelle 37 The Lady Apaches defeated Dardanelle on Monday 47-37 in conference play to extend their record to 4-0 in conference and 10-4 overall. Erica Lackey and Courtney Dotson had a great offensive showing with 14 points each. Dotson also had 6 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks. Bethany Clair was great on the boards with 6 rebounds and 5 points. Jenna Goodwin contributed 5 points , 3 assists and 3 steals. Other scorers for Pottsville were Jessica Foster with 4, Hannah Barnett with 3 points and 3 steals, and Alyssa Williamson with 2. Pottsville will play again on Thursday at home against Waldron in 4-4A Conference play.

Apaches, Lady Apaches split with Hornets

The Pottsville basketball teams split with Maumelle on Tuesday, with the ladies winning 51-28 and the boys falling in a 76-73 shootout.

Junior Lady Apaches fall to Van Buren

The Pottsville Junior Lady Apaches were defeated by the Van Buren Junior Lady
Pointers in a non-conference match on Monday. Pottsville lead 10-7 after 1,
and 18-17 going into half. Van Buren outscored Pottsville in the third
quarter 7-6 to tie the score at 24. Key freethrows in the end won it for
Van Buren as they took the final 45-35. Leading scorers for Pottsville were
Aspen Campbell 17, Emily Roy 4, Kaylin Parker, Katlyn Young, Erin Aulgur,
and Maddi Rust 3, Skyler Campbell 2. Jamilyn Kinney of Van Buren had 25.

"Free throws were the difference in the game, they made theirs in the second
half and we didn't," Head Coach Drew Siebenmorgen said. "I really thought the girls played their hearts out. This is about the fifth really good team we have played in a row, and I can really see the improvement in our girls. It would be nice to be winning a few more of these close ones but these are hopefully going to be huge stepping stones for us once we get into conference play."

Apaches, Lady Apaches tip season with wins

The Pottsville Apaches and Lady Apaches both earned season opening wins over Clinton on Tuesday, with the men winning 48-21 and the ladies taking a 43-31 win.

Apaches fall to Hornets

Despite 18 penalties, Maumelle's defense, along with an impressive performance by junior quarterback Tyshun Robinson (7-1), led the Hornets to a 29-18 win at home Friday night over 4-4A conference opponent Pottsville(7-1), handing the Apaches their first loss of the season.

Apaches survive Sand Lizards

The undefeated Pottsville Apaches improved to 5-0 Friday, going into Dardanelle and handing the Sand Lizards their first loss of the season, 21-18. Both teams had handfuls of costly penalties, but the most telling statistic of the game was Dardanelle’s five turnovers—four fumbles and one interception.

Solid season leads to awards for Pottsville softball

The Lady Apaches finished the season 20-9.  They won the 4A North Regional for the second year in a row and finished fifth in the state.  This senior class has won over 100 games in four years at Pottsville.  Winning the 4-4 conference three out of the last four years.

Seniors are Laken Gray, Brianna Gray, Avery Simpson, Bailey Martin, Alex Gantt, Brianna Anthony, Hope Huffman, and Taylor Phillips.

Lady Apaches going back to state, advance in Regional

The Pottsville Lady Apaches softball team defeated Gravette by a score of 6-3 in the first round of regionals to earn a state tournament berth. Pottsville scored five runs in the top of the first on Hannah Barnett's walk, Bailey Martin's single, Laken Gray's RBI single, Mikayla Scheide's RBI single, Avery Simpson's RBI single, a passed ball and an error by the second baseman on Haley Stanton's ground ball, to make the score 5-0 after an inning.
