The Latest:

Suspects face felony charge after officer observes suspicious activity

Mark Rasha, 19, Jonathan Campbell, 19 and Joseph Williams, 18, all of Russellville, appeared in a felony bond hearing on Monday, July 27 before District Court Judge Don Bourne. The three men appeared in the hearing accused of the felony charge of Breaking/Entering and the misdemeanor charge of Theft of Property following their arrests by the Russellville Police Department.

In Memory of USMC Staff Sergeant David A. Wyatt

Staff Sgt. David Allen Wyatt, 35, of Hixson, Tennessee selflessly gave his life Thursday, July 16, 2015 in Chattanooga, Tennessee while protecting his Chattanooga community, his country and his fellow Marines. David will always be remembered for the heroic way in which he lived, served, and died. He was born November 7, 1979 in Morganton, North Carolina. He grew up in Ozark and Russellville, Arkansas. One of David's proud accomplishments was achieving the rank of Eagle Scout through the Boy Scouts of America. He graduated from Russellville High School in 1998 and attended Piedmont Community College in Morganton, North Carolina, Arkansas Tech, and MSU in Missoula, Montana.

Yell County law enforcement officers charged for felony crime, probable cause remains unclear

Formal charges have been filed against two former Yell County law enforcement officers. Arrest warrants were issued for Timothy Spears, a former Danville Police Officer and Michael Spears, a former Yell County Sheriff's Office Deputy following the completion of an investigation concerning an incident that occurred on March 22, 2014 at the Yell County Juvenile Detention Center.

Drowning victim identified as Arkansas Tech student-athlete

On Sunday evening, July 19,  the Pope County Sheriff's Office released information concerning a drowning that occurred at the Long Pool Recreational Area earlier Sunday afternoon.

Long Pool drowning claims life of 21-year-old

On Sunday, July 19, at approximately 3:38 p.m., Pope County 911 dispatch received a call of a possible drowning at the Long Pool Recreational Area. Pope County Deputies and EMS personnel responded to the area.

Trinity Cardinals begin in losers bracket, players rally to championship game

On Friday, July 17, the Trinity Cardinals began bracket play in the Global World Series. Despite a two run home run by Kolby Webb, the Trinity Cardinals lost game one to Topline Barrons of Houston, Texas.

RFD fights Friday evening structure fire on East 11th Street

At approximately 5:45 p.m. Friday, July 17, Pope County dispatchers received a 911 call reporting a structure fire at a residence located near the 1100 block of East 11th Street. While receiving the report, dispatchers requested the response of the Russellville Fire Department.

Russellville graduate named one of four Fallen Marines

United States Marine, David Wyatt of Russellville was killed yesterday in Chattanooga, TN. Wyatt was a 1998 Russellville High School graduate and was married with two young children, a girl, and a boy.

Trinity Cardinals end Pool Play Day 2 with two wins in Global World Series

Trinity Cardinals 11AAA baseball team out of Cabot with two local players from Atkins, Allen and Wade Farish are competing in the global World Series in Orange Beach, Alabama. On Monday, July 13, Allen Farish placed 2nd in the skills event for home run derby. Pool play started on Wednesday, July 15 and the Cardinals  won their first game versus Top Gun Baseball. The Cardinals lost their second game to Young Guns Baseball of Slidell, Louisiana. Pool play resumed Thursday morning, July 16,

Food drive, children’s area added to Alzheimer’s Walk

The committee planning the 5th Annual Alzheimer’s Arkansas River Valley Walk, which will be held on Saturday, Aug. 29, at the L.V. Williamson Boys and Girls Club, has announced several new features for the walk, including a food drive for seniors, a children’s play area, and a benefit drawing.

Pope County Sheriff warns residents of phone scam, caller demands payment or be arrested

On Thursday, July 16, the Pope County Sheriff’s Office received several phone calls from concerned citizens reporting a possible phone scam.  The victims stated they received telephone calls from an individual identifying himself as Deputy James Marshall badge number 731 and is claiming to be a with the Pope County Sheriff’s Office.

Three more sexual assault allegations come to light against Neeley

Following a bond hearing recently held at the Pope County Sheriff's Office and Detention Center, 31-year-old Jonathan Neeley of Nashville, Arkansas and formerly of Russellville, was released from custody after appearing before the judge accused of four counts of Sexual Assault in the third degree. Neeley was released from custody within hours of his bond hearing appearance after the ordered bond amount was paid.

Suspect Shot in Faulkner County Home Invasion

On Friday, July 10, Faulkner County deputies were called to 25 Poole Lane in Damascus in reference to a possible home invasion. The Faulkner County Sheriff's Office responded to the residence and spoke to the residence owner, identified as Donna Salvo, age 42.
