Due to the wind advisory in place this morning, no boats were sent to search the water for Michael Shane Caldwell, missing out of Pope County. This afternoon a boat entered the water to resume the search. They will be searching the Arkansas River until around dark this evening. At that time, the teams searching will meet and discuss the plans for future search and rescue efforts.

The Pope County Sheriff’s Office, Pope County OEM team, Yell County Sheriff’s Office and the Yell, Logan and Johnson County OEM teams have been diligently searching the Arkansas River searching for any clues to the whereabouts of Mr. Caldwell.

Over the weekend, the Arkansas State Police helicopter aided in the search but was unsuccessful in locating the victim.

Anyone with any information as to Mr. Caldwell’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Pope County Sheriff’s Office at 479-968-2558 or the Pope County 911 Dispatch Center at 479-968-0911.
