Arkansas State Troopers rescue teenage victim in human trafficking operation

Arkansas State Troopers and civilian investigators of the State Police Crimes Against Children Division are being credited with locating and recovering a fifteen year old girl who had been sexually exploited while being held in a human trafficking operation.

Yell County Sheriff’s Department releases statement following Highway 28 standoff

Sheriff Bill Gilkey announced today the arrest of Charles Edward Black, (49), of Atkins, following a standoff with both Yell County Sheriff’s Deputies and Arkansas State Police on April 30, 2015, near Dardanelle. Black, a previously convicted felon, had reportedly fled from Pope County authorities the previous night.

One patient transported following rollover collision on East Main Street

Just after 10:45 a.m. Friday, May 1, the Russellville Police Department, Russellville Fire Department and Pope County EMS were requested to respond to a motor vehicle collision that occurred at 1900 East Main Street in front of Cogswell Motors.

Mayor Horton issues strong statement on new billboard

Earlier this week the content of an existing billboard visible to westbound traffic on Interstate 40 and in the area of Exit 81 was changed. The new message infers a racist tone to many who have seen it. There has been coverage of this in local and statewide media and prompted a call to City Hall from the Little Rock office of the NAACP. This content promotes an internet address that redirects to a website of the Ku Klux Klan.

UPDATE: Formal charges filed following Booneville Homicide

Bond has been set at two million dollars each for Nick Charles Stoicu, 39 and Joseph Oliah Hals Brown, 32, who have been charged with 1st Degree Murder in Logan County. Both subjects are being held at different detention facilities in two different Counties for increased security and public safety.

Russellville Police collect 95 pounds of drugs during 'Take Back Initiative'

Christopher Tarkington, 29 of Russellville, appeared in a bond hearing on Monday, April 27, before District Court Judge Don Bourne following his arrest on Sunday, April 26, by the Russellville Police Department. Tarkington appeared in the hearing accused of the felony charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Tarkington also is accused of two separate misdemeanor charges--Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Man on felony probation arrested after officers find drugs and paraphernalia

John Ward, 37 of Atkins, appeared in a bond hearing on Monday, April 27, before District Court Judge Don Bourne. Ward appeared in the Monday morning felony hearing following his arrest by the Pope County Sheriff's Office on Friday, April 24. Ward is currently on felony probation for a previous Aggravated Assault conviction and is accused of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of an Instrument of Crime.

Man arrested for DWI, drugs, following early morning traffic stop

Cody Roberts, 26 of Russellville, appeared in a bond hearing on Monday, April 27, before District Court Judge Don Bourne. Roberts appeared in the felony hearing following a traffic stop during the early morning hours of April 25. He was arrested by the Russellville Police Department following the traffic stop and is accused of DWI, drugs.

"March for Marriage" rally at the Pope County Courthouse held 'without incident'
