Oakland Heights Elementary S.T.E.P.S. Dance Recital at The Center for the Arts

Oakland Heights Elementary's S.T.E.P.S. Dance Recital will be presented at The Center for the Arts located at the Russellville High School, 2209 South Knoxville Avenue on Saturday, May 19, at 6:30 p.m.  This will be the only performance of the year.

The community is invited to attend Moreland Fire Department's 29th Annual Pig Roast scheduled for
Saturday, May 19 at 6:00 p.m.  The annual fundraising event will be held at Moreland Fire Department and donations will be accepted at the door.

Enjoy live music by Greg Collins and the "Cross Roads Reunion Band" and door prizes will be given away.

The menu for the event will be BBQ pork, BBQ chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, cole slaw, beans, cornbread, your choice of drink and dessert.

Friday Shooting Death: Man and Wife Arrested

At approximately 1 p.m. Friday, Pope County Sheriff's deputies responded to a residence located on Shadow Lane, two miles north of London on a possible shooting.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered the body of a victim identified by Sheriff Aaron Duvall as 65 year old Lee Britton.  Pope County Coroner, Leonard Krout transported Britton's body to the State of Arkansas Medical Examiner's office in Little Rock for an autopsy.

                Charges were filed in April in Circuit Court for the arrest of Ralph Ross, 47, of Dover. The warrant was signed by the deputy prosecutor and approved by a circuit judge.

Russellville Man Writes More than $5,000 Worth of Hot Checks

                Stacey Smith, 40, of Russellville was in court on Friday after a warrant for his arrest was filed. Smith is being charged for writing hot checks. According to court documents, Smith wrote more than $5,000 worth of hot checks to PDQ gas stations and a Russellville grocery store.
